Hey There Sassy Fam!

This recipe is sooooo easy to put together! Not even kidding! The bulk of the work comes at the end of the recipe, right before serving time. Guess what? It's not even that much work! Awesome! If you've never made homemade bone broth, you're in for a treat! We're basically making bone broth directly in the crock pot. So much greatness in one recipe! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to get the Whole 30 substitutions for this dish! Enjoy!

Btw... You will need a zoodle machine for this recipe. Here's what it looks like...

Ingredients

4 tablespoons liquid aminos

2 tablespoons white vinegar

1 tablespoon fish sauce

3 tablespoons Chinese five spice

1 small piece of ginger peeled, kept whole

8 cups of water

1 small white onion, small diced

1 ½ lb pork chops with bones

1 ½ tablespoons Himalayan salt

½ teaspoon pepper

Garnishes/Fillings

4 small or 2 large zucchinis (mix of green and yellow), made in to zoodles from a Spiralizer

1-2 Jalapenos, sliced

1 bunch basil

1 bunch mint

1 bunch cilantro

1 lime, sliced into wedges

1 bunch of green onion, diced

Method

  1. Prepare all of the veggies as listed above.

  2. Place all the ingredients (under the ingredients list) in the crock pot. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.

  3. The pork should be soft and falling off the bone for it to be ready to serve! Check the broth to see if it needs any more salt or pepper to match your preferred level of taste. Pull all of the bones out of the crock pot and discard! Guess what! You just made bone broth! Awesome!

  4. When you ready to serve/eat your pho, prepare your garnishes as listed above.

  5. Place a handful of zoodles into a bowl. Pour a half a cup of pork plus 1 cup of broth over the zoodles. Garnish the pho bowls with sprigs of basil, mint, jalapeno slices, green onions, and lime!

Whole 30 Substitutions:

  1. Substitute Bragg’s Liquid Aminos with Coconut Aminos and add 1 extra tablespoon of Coconut Aminos.

  2. The only Whole 30 Compliant fish sauce on the market is Red Boat Fish Sauce because it doesn’t contain sugar. If you don’t have access to it, then omit the fish sauce entirely and add 1 more tablespoon of vinegar.
